Dear Lewis High School Parents, Students, and Staff,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mr. Alfonso G. Smith has been appointed as principal of Lewis High School, effective Monday, January 6, 2020.

Mr. Smith has nearly 23 years of experience in education.  He has been a school counselor at the elementary and middle school levels and participated in the aspiring Directors of Student Services cohort in Fairfax County Public Schools.  He was in the LEAD Fairfax cohort and served as a special education administrator before becoming Director of Student Services at Hayfield Secondary School.  For the past three years he has served the Hayfield Secondary School community as their Associate Principal.

Mr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Community Services, with a Minor in Business, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  In addition, he earned his Master of Science in Counselor Education from North Carolina A & T State University.  He completed the LEAD Fairfax Accelerated Certification Cohort through University of Virginia.  He has his Virginia Education Administration and Counseling Education endorsements.

It will not take you long to realize that Mr. Smith is a dedicated, reflective, and collaborative leader.  As the newest member of the Lee High School family or “FamiLee”, Mr. Smith is looking forward to learning about the rich traditions, meeting students, families and staff, and embracing Lee for the wonderful school community it is.

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Smith as the new principal at Lewis High School.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nardos E. King
