English Language Arts 

Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in English Language Arts.

Goal:   During the 2022-2023 school year, 80% of students enrolled in an English 9-12 class will score "proficient or advanced" on the Spring Reading Inventory (RI) assessment; and, all students enrolled in a Lit Essentials and Lit Lab 1, 2, or 3 class will increase their Lexile score by at least one proficiency band on the RI.

Strategy 3  Utilize evidence based literary resources to enhance Tier 1 instruction at all levels.

Mathematics 

Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in Mathematics.

Goal:   By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, Lewis High School students with disabilities (SWD) and students of multiple races engaged in mathematics courses will improve their performance by 10% on the end-of-course state exam.

Strategy 1  Small-group sessions for intervention and remediation support.

Strategy 2  Ensure students are meeting graduation requirements in math on-time.

Strategy 3  Tutoring

Wellness 

Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment.

Goal: By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the wellness domain of the SEL Screener will increase from 48% to 53%. This would support our continued improvement in this domain as our initial SEL Screener indicated this domain at 43% in the fall of 2021. By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the chronic absenteeism rate will drop from 23% to 20% . **In addition, Students and Staff members will receive feedback survey forms quarterly, to monitor and track the impact of our Wellness Plan initiatives and progress towards Wellness goals.

Strategy 1 Professional Development/Skill building activities will be available to students, staff, and parents.

Strategy 2  Provide targeted intervention for students during school and after school to support overall well being and development.

Strategy 3  Establish programs and initiatives to prevent and decrease the number of high risk behaviors including chronic absenteeism and substance abuse.

Portrait of a Graduate (POG)

Outcome: All students will complete a POG Presentation of Learning (POL) by 2025-26. 

Goal:  By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, all staff and students will demonstrate increased understanding of POG skills (with a focus on Critical and Creative Thinker and Goal Oriented and Resilient) as recorded on students' self-reflections during first and second semesters.

Strategy 1 Staff will increase knowledge of POG and POG POL.

Strategy 2  Students will have opportunities to create and present evidence that demonstrates POG attribute development.

OTHER End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Goal: By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, at least 70% of Lewis High School students who need a verified science credit and are enrolled in a science course with an End of Course SOL assessment will earn a verified or locally verified credit.

Strategy 1 Provide a scaffolded curriculum through daily targeted instructional strategies for each subject area to ensure that all students learn the essential skills and knowledge to earn a verified credit

Strategy 2  All science CT’s will develop a system for identifying our students who need Tier 2 and Tier 3 support in their science classes and provide remediation to them.

Strategy 3  Individualize remediation & intervention.
