Lewis HS has received and FCPS Get2Green $500 gardening grant to add to our edible schoolyard in the Outdoor Classroom.  Since 2020 Lewis HS has been a Silver Award winning National Wildlife Federation (NWF) Eco-Schools USA award winning school.  We have this award for our efforts to become a Schoolyard Certified Habitat as well as our efforts to start composting.  With the additionally edible schoolyard garden, Lewis will someday be able to apply to become an Eco-Schools USA Green Flag award winning schools.  Thank you to community members, Fairfax Stormwater, Northern VA Soil and Water Conservation District, Fairfax Master Gardeners, and Fairfax Master Naturalists for supporting Lewis HS students on these efforts.   The new $500 grant will be used to buy 4 new edible vegetable garden beds, more gloves, and more shovels to increase the number of students who can participate in monthly after school service learning events in the Outdoor Classroom.
