On September 29, 2022, Andrew Aydin, creator and co-author of the graphic memoir series, MARCH, which chronicles the life of Congressman John Lewis visited Lewis High School and shared his experience of working with the Congressman with students, faculty and staff.  In addition to addressing students in the auditorium, a small group of student ambassadors led Mr. Aydin on a tour of the building that included classroom visits where individual students had the opportunity to share their learning.

Andrew Aydin’s in person visit was the perfect follow up for our students, who all started the year reading about John Lewis’ life, including his graphic novel series March

  • Freshman read March: Book One
  • Sophomores read March: Book Two
  • Juniors read March: Book Three
  • Seniors learned about Congressman Lewis’ life after the Civil Rights Movement

Lewis High School strives every day to carry on the legacy of our namesake, John Lewis.   Our visit with Andrew Aydin reminded us that we are part of a wider community who share in the desire to ensure the next generation is able to fulfill their dreams and live in a just and peaceful society.
