Lee High School’s English 9 teachers hosted their 4th annual Día de Muertos fiesta in Lancer Hall on Thursday, October 31. As a grand finale of their month-long unit on Latin American fiction during Hispanic Heritage Month, English 9 students who completed all Q1 assignments, passed the quarter, and accumulated no more than one tardy were invited to attend. The celebration included food and drinks, traditional decorations, face painting, and traditional Latin dance music, ranging from bachata to reggaeton. Several faculty members, counselors, and administrators stopped by to check out the festivities, and Principal Lavery commended all of the student attendees for their hard work and commitment to academic success, noting that starting off strong with good work habits in ninth grade is essential to lasting academic and personal success. At the end of the party, students competed in a bachata contest.
