Global Classroom Experience

Making Global Connections in the Classroom

The Global Classroom is an innovative educational program that engages students in an exploration of current world issues through interactive simulations. It promotes global awareness by connecting FCPS students with students in other countries, enabling them to explore issues impacting the world, and having teachers embed real-world learning opportunities and Portrait of a Graduate attributes throughout the curriculum. Global Classrooms cultivates literacy, life skills and the attitudes necessary for active citizenship.

Lewis High School's Global Classroom experience will take place in Mr. Seidenberg's and Mr. Hammadi's classroom. Students will be researching human impact on the environment in the context of power production with a focus on sustainability. In addition to learning science content, students will be working on developing their skills to becoming Collaborators as part of Portrait of a Graduate.

Our project will be focus on addressing important UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal #7: Clean and Affordable Energy and Goal # 13: Climate Action.  Students are engaged in authentic real-world learning to solve important issues facing our society today.
